An IP camera is a type of Internet Protocol camera. It is a digital video camera that works like a webcam. It can send and receive data over the internet.

It is much better than normal video camera. Because it has its own IP address and only with internet connection, it can do all kinds of work. This IP camera is usually connected to a computer, laptop, tablet or any mobile through a net connection.

IP cameras are more advanced than CCTV cameras. Because CCTV cameras are analog type. That is, CCTV cameras have a coaxial video cable that transmits video footage to a digital video recorder.

On the other hand IP cameras work only through internet connection. It does not require any cables. It connects to a video recorder via WiFi, Ethernet cable or USB.

IP cameras capture very high quality footage. Each camera has a processing chip that compresses and records the video footage. The higher the resolution of the camera, the more video it can record.

And the higher the resolution, the higher the storage capacity. IP camera files are shortened and compressed so that less bandwidth is required to send very good pictures or videos.

Some advantages of IP cameras:

Two-Way Audio – This camera can hear and speak simultaneously with the help of a speaker. It works with some doorbell cameras.

Remote Access – Live video footage can be viewed from any smartphone, tablet or computer with this camera.

High Resolution – This camera has about 4 times the resolution capability of any analog camera.

Wireless connection – As Ethernet works with cables, it does not require any other cables.

Network type of IP camera

There are generally three types of networks to choose from when setting up an IP camera.

1. wireless network

2. wired network

3. Cellular network

1. Wireless Network:

It receives and transmits data like a WiFi connection. Like mobiles, computers, televisions, various games or other devices, IP cameras also run through WiFi. IP camera footage can be viewed directly by entering the IP address of the IP camera in the browser.

However, this IP address should be the same, but care must be taken because some suppliers give their customers such IP addresses that change repeatedly. So you have to talk to them beforehand so that the IP address is the same and can be accessed easily.

2. Wired Network:

In this system IP cameras are connected by Ethernet cables. This connection is considered the most secure. Here the signal is less prone to unwanted interference by other people and the data transmission speed in this connection is higher than WiFi.

3. Cellular Network:

This connection is the most convenient but also the slowest. Generally, the upload and download speed of images is higher when using WiFi. Most IP cameras come with a transmitter to set up on a mobile phone so it's easy to set up.

How to set IP Camera:

Setting up the IP camera is hassle-free. Only one network is required here. And the site with which the entry will be made should be noted. Check the configuration of the camera while setting it up.

Generally, most IP cameras are configured to view live video, recording continuously. Or the time can be set for a specific event.

Ensuring security of IP camera connections

When connecting the IP camera, its security must be ensured otherwise the data may fall into the hands of hackers. Before taking the connection, the connecting company should ask two things-

1. Does the IP camera system receive a single login certificate?

2. Is the wireless network private?

Many IP cameras are configured with a default username and password, and this default login can be changed. Websites collect different footage of these cameras from different super shops, shopping malls or different places.

But the worst thing that happens is when your living room or bedroom footage is copied. Connections with insecure IP addresses are more likely to be hacked.

There are two ways to avoid this danger. That is very easy. Just need to know if IP camera login has changed from default means change default login option.

For this, refer to the camera's instruction manual or take the help of a company that sets up professional IP cameras. Then check if your WiFi connection is secure.

Keep your WiFi connection private. If public is given, then whoever knows the IP address of the IP camera can easily enter the link and see the footage of the camera. For this, if the WiFi connection is private, only the user can login and check the camera footage.

Where IP cameras are used:

IP cameras are generally used in homes and businesses, factories or offices.

IP cameras are used in homes for various reasons. Often used to see if the child is paying attention. If both parents are employed
